Predictions and Split Decision Bets
Predictions
Now we know the fighters and what they will be looking to do in this fight to secure themselves a win. The last thing to do now is decide who is able to impose their skill, IQ and plan onto the other.
Greg:
I believe you are going to see Bud come out looking quick, sharp and determined. I don’t expect him to open up much and let his hands go. Instead we will see him potshot Canelo and see Canelo’s head crack back as Bud strikes and moves out of danger. I expect Bud to have a lot of success in the first 3-4 rounds doing this.
However, I believe Canelo will get comfortable around then and realize that Bud can’t hurt him. This is when I expect Canelo to start coming downhill. Those vicious body shots start landing. Bud’s input will start to decrease with each round.
I am going to say that Canelo actually knocks Bud down in the 7th or 8th round. I can see Canelo landing a razor sharp and lightning quick counter hook that Bud doesn’t see coming.
Ultimately I think we will be going to scorecards on this one. My official prediction will be Canelo winning by Split Decision on the cards, even with scoring a knockdown.
Tony:
My prediction is this fight is a little boring, especially for non-fight fans. Both fighters aren’t typically fast starters, and given the mutual respect they have for each other, I expect that to be the case in this one. There will be a lot of single shot punches, feinting, and mental calculations about how to get to their opponent. Canelo, as the bigger fighter, will likely pursue Crawford in the ring, and both fighters will show small glimpses of success, but then show restraint so as to not get caught with a counter.
As the rounds get late, the success of Canelo’s body work and the conditioning of Crawford at 168 may begin to show. If that’s the case, Canelo will stay the course and hunt down Crawford, scoring enough points for a decision victory. However, if Bud evades Canelo's shots early and can begin to find holes in Canelo’s game, this one could get really interesting down the stretch, and Crawford could find his way to a points decision.
The most likely scenario is Canelo by decision, but it’s a close enough fight where Bud could easily end up the victor on the scorecards (even in Canelo’s home away from home, Las Vegas).
Split Decision Bets
We here at Blurred Vision Boxing aren’t going to give you the typical boring bet takes. We want you to throw just a little money to win plus money. We won’t be telling you to take out a second mortgage and bet it all on a -2400 Mohammed Alakel. No fun in that.
Tony’s Split Decision Betting Take:
Give me Crawford to win by decision +190. This isn’t my prediction or the most likely outcome, but it’s the best value I see given how close this fight should be. If Crawford does pull out a victory, it likely won’t be by KO, as Canelo is one of the toughest fighters to knock down, and Crawford is already the smaller fighter. I don’t see enough value in picking the favorite, Canelo, though that is the likeliest outcome.
If you are feeling spicy, sprinkle 0.25 on a Draw +1300. The odds are heavily in favor of the fight going the distance, and once it’s in the judges hands on what could be a close fight, the likelihood of a draw increases. As always, bet responsibly.
Greg’s Split Decision Betting Take:
I am going a little more wild with my Split Decision Bet. I want you to just throw a little bit of scratch down on Crawford to Win the Fight, Throw the Most Punches & Land the Most Punches +380. If Bud is to win, I think that by default means he has out worked, punched and landed Canelo by a big enough margin.
