Canelo Alvarez vs Terence “Bud” Crawford: Paths to Victory
September 13th, 2025 from Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas. Live on Netflix at 11:00 PM ET/10:00 PM CT. Written by Greg 8/26/25
Boxing is set to have a historic event on September 13th in Las Vegas. We have two Pound-For-Pound legends fighting in what was thought as an impossible fight to make. Not only that but the fight is for all four belts at 168 lbs. Canelo is currently the undisputed champion at Super Middleweight. Bud is essentially jumping from 147 lbs, where he was crowned undisputed after his maestro beatdown of Errol Spence Jr, with one stop to win a title at 154 lbs all the way to 168 lbs.
Dana White, of the UFC, makes his debut as a boxing promoter. Dana has long attempted to find a way into the boxing market but struggled because of boxing's structure and current laws to prevent a monopoly from forming (see UFC’s ongoing settlement of their monopoly court case). Dana finally found the right environment to make that fiscally irresponsible dive into boxing. He found a nearly unlimited piggy bank with Saudi’s Turkhi Al-Sheikh, who has turned boxing into his personal hobby. It is undeniable that the UFC has a great marketing machine behind it. Hopefully Dana can bring that to this fight while not destroying the sport we love. Who knows?
Finally, Netflix is making its return to live boxing. They tested their live sport streaming capabilities with Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul which did insane, bonkers numbers. Canelo vs Crawford will not touch anything close to the Tyson-Paul fight but Canelo and Crawford are both legitimate superstar real boxers still in the prime of their careers. If this fight card delivers, Netflix could continue to look for mega fights and as a result create some new boxing fans that wouldn’t know if these other streaming services is a streamer or an STD they should get looked at.
We will be putting out a “Path to Victory” article for Canelo Alvarez and for Bud Crawford to show how we see each fighter’s most likely way to victory.
